  • Advent Ventures participates in $30 million funding stage for Pathwork Diagnostic

    November 10th, 2010 1 comment

Pathwork Diagnostics is a molecular diagnostics company based in California and Alta Partners led the round. This round of venture capital will support the commercial activities and help expand the product offerings. The company offers a test, which can identify the source of cancers that are difficult to classify. The test has received FDA clearance and should be of great help to oncologist from all around the world.

Advent Venture Partners , which was founded in 1981, is a venture capital firm with a long history in investing. The headquarters are in London and at a closer look you can find as partners big names as Peter Baines, Frederic Court or Stephan Gueorguiev. Advent venture capital was useful to more than 20 firms and some success stories were recorded. The company invests in pharmaceutical companies like Algeta, which was listed in the Norwegian Bourse in March 2007 and was very successful. PowderMed and RespiVert are other companies in the therapeutic field that Advent International invested in.

The investment company also invested in software companies like Royalblue, Scipher or Snell& Wilcox. One of their investments is Dailymotion, a very popular video sharing website. The firm has a preference for life sciences and technology (communications, digital media & internet, semiconductor& components or software & services) and invests in companies from all around the world but mostly in Europe.

The partners confess that a well-built business plan, clear and succinct is the most important document to be used when communicating with them. Advent venture capital seems nothing but successful and it seems to have made a fine choice when investing in Pathwork Diagnostic.
