  • Purfresh Secures $25 Million Series C Funding Round

    December 24th, 2006 No comments

Purfresh, formerly known as Novazone, Inc., a leading provider of clean solutions for food and water, recently announced that it has raised a $25 million Series C financing round, including a new lead investment by Chilton Investment Company along with existing investors Foundation Capital, Grauer Capital and Chrysalix Energy and one additional strategic investor to be named.

“Over the last several years we have seen a dramatic increase in awareness of food and water safety along with a desire to reduce the use of traditional, harmful chemicals,” said Purfresh President and CEO David Cope. “We see these trends accelerating globally, creating both a tremendous need and opportunity for companies such as Purfresh to provide an array of clean technology solutions for the food and water markets. We are looking forward to leveraging our foundation of more than 300 customers and working with Chilton, existing investors and board members to grow our global distribution and take Purfresh to its next level.”

Chilton Investment Company is a leading Stamford, Connecticut-based alternative asset manager with $7 billion under management.  “A safe supply of fresh water and untainted food is critical to people everywhere – food- and water-borne illnesses and chemical contaminants don’t discriminate,” said Scott Galletti, Managing Director of Chilton Investment Company.  “We believe Purfresh has established its leadership as a developer of clean, chemical-free solutions for these large and critical industries, and we’re excited for their prospects.”

Purfresh’s line of clean solutions protects and enhances the quality of food and water through every step in the supply chain. Its chemical-free, ozone-based family of products is FDA, EPA and USDA approved to kill water and food-borne pathogens, including E. coli and salmonella.  The company’s new web-based informatics system, Intellipur, works with all the Purfresh ozone-based products to reduce decay, slow ripening and enhance food and water safety in storage, transit and wet disinfection applications.  Purfresh has also extended its clean solution offerings from post-harvest to pre-harvest, providing sunshield products that increase crop yields and improves the utilization of water. Other Purfresh products are used to disinfect water for beverage suppliers as well as personal care and pharmaceutical applications.

With more than 300 customers in 22 countries, Purfresh is a leader in clean solutions for food and water. Its chemical-free, ozone-based family of products has been approved by the FDA, EPA and USDA to kill deadly, food-borne pathogens such as E. coli and Salmonella, while remaining 100 percent organic; its water solutions use the safest and most natural purification and disinfection agent for both bottled water and pharmaceutical applications. Purfresh’s patented technologies preserve and protect the world’s food and water supply throughout the pre-harvest and post-harvest packaging, transport and cold storage processes. Its cutting-edge, thin-film sunshield, made from harmless calcium carbonate crystals, reduces sunburn damage and product losses for growers, resulting in better quality product and increased returns. Industry leaders such as Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Sunkist, Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, Safeway, Sun Pacific, Orchard View Farms, Paramount Farms, Wilson Batiz, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals rely on Purfresh for product purity.
