  • EZ Prints Secures $8 Million in Venture Funding

    January 15th, 2007 No comments

EZ Prints, a leading provider of private-label digital image fulfillment solutions for retailers, portals, ISPs, digital content owners and professional photo services, recently announced that it has secured $8 million in funding from General Catalyst Partners. The funding will be used to increase sales, marketing and product development activities, and further enhance and expand EZ Prints’ global image fulfillment network, which includes Smugmug, Target and Yahoo!.

More than 500 online and offline retailers use EZ Prints’ technology platform to offer services that empower consumers and businesses to creatively personalize digital content. EZ Prints has brokered unique relationships between partners, such as an arrangement that allows consumers to print their online Yahoo! Photos at any Target store in an hour.

“Since our inception in 1998 as a photo finishing service for consumers, we’ve been expanding our technology architecture and network of partners to be the back-end fulfillment infrastructure for retailers and online photo service,” said Jamie Bardin, President and CEO of EZ Prints. “Customers want to maintain control of their images, and this desire is causing companies in different industries to partner in non-traditional ways. Now, thanks to EZ Prints, companies like Yahoo! and Target are partnering via our network to provide their customers with the ability to create products and pick them up where they want, when they want them.“

The digital camera has changed what people and companies can do with their images, sparking a revival in “personalized creations” such as books, calendars, mouse pads, and albums. EZ Prints’ solutions include product fulfillment capabilities – creating, packaging and shipping – as well as complete technology platforms, including world-class custom interface designs, hosting, and ecommerce solutions.

“EZ Prints has already revolutionized its industry and is now preparing for mass adoption of its network by major retailers and online services,” said David Orfao, managing director, General Catalyst Partners. “Partners on EZ Prints’ network will soon be able to offer their customers unmatched options, from the products they are able to create to the locations where they can be shipped or picked up. With more than 500 partners, including the industry leaders across each key segment, and a proven technology infrastructure that has handled millions of orders to date, EZ Prints is poised to become the standard fulfillment network for any company dealing with digital images, photographs, or content.”

EZ Prints’ sophisticated and efficient digital only production operation serves as the backbone of its manufacturing and quality control system. This system enables EZ Prints to offer one of the broadest product portfolios of any digital lab, including prints, books, personalized photo merchandise, framed prints, and canvas. As businesses and consumers continue to experiment and evolve – doing “more” with their digital images – EZ Prints continues to develop relevant and proprietary products for its strategic partners.
