  • Extreme DA Closes $7.38 Million Series B Funding Round

    April 5th, 2007 No comments

Extreme DA Corporation announced that it has raised $7.38 million in its Series B funding round, which was led by Foundation Capital. This recent investment round consists of a combination of new cash investments and the conversion of a bridge loan. Extreme DA is an emerging leader in next-generation integrated circuit (IC) design solutions that improve manufacturing yield and address the increased process variations present in the latest generation of semiconductors produced using advanced nanometer processes.

“Timing closure is often a challenge for chip designs in smaller process geometries,” said Mike Schuh, General Partner of Foundation Capital. “Extreme DA’s variation-aware timing analysis tools provide the optimal performance and faster timing closure that’s necessary for designs manufactured at 65-nanometers and below.”

In addition to lead investor, Foundation Capital, IT-Farm Corporation and Lanza techVentures participated in this funding round. Extreme DA CEO, Mustafa Celik, said of the investment, “Our customers have told us that faster timing closure, more accurate timing analysis, and parametric yield improvement are essential to their continued success. With this capital, we plan to support customer demand by increasing our research and development efforts and expanding our worldwide sales channel and marketing program.”

About his firm’s investment, IT-Farm Corporation President, Morio Kurosaki, said, “The semiconductor industry in Japan is driven by high-end consumer electronics. Chips for this market sector have formidable requirements for quality, fast yield ramp-up, and short design cycles. Process variations at advanced technology nodes are a major barrier to meeting these goals. Extreme DA has technology that addresses design problems by accounting for process variation. We are glad to participate in the funding of the company.”

According to Lucio Lanza, Managing Partner, Lanza techVentures, “This round of funding is an endorsement of Extreme DA’s technology leadership and its potential to be an essential part of the platform for complex digital designs. The company plans to continue to expand its breadth of products and accelerate the growth of its business.”

Headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif., venture-funded Extreme DA develops and licenses software products to improve the performance and yield of 65- and 45-nanometer integrated circuits. The company’s investors include Foundation Capital, IT-Farm Corporation, and Lanza techVentures.
