Dakim, Inc., an innovator in brain fitness technology solutions, today announced the completion of a $10.6 million Series C financing. The round was led by Galen Partners, a leading private equity firm specializing in healthcare investing. The funds represent the first institutional investment for Dakim. Terms of the financing were not disclosed.
Dakim’s new funding will allow for the continued expansion of its [m]Power Cognitive Fitness System product line. The all-in-one hardware/software system offers games, puzzles and other cognitively stimulating activities designed to strengthen aging minds. Unlike other systems, it also automatically tailors its activities to match the user’s changing ability level and is updated regularly with new exercises to motivate sustained, long-term use. The company also plans to launch a new version of the [m]Power system later this year for home users, enabling all seniors to benefit from this advanced system.
In conjunction with this equity financing, David W. Jahns, managing director at Galen, and William D. Williams, a special venture partner with Galen, have joined the Dakim board of directors. Regarding the announcement, Mr. Jahns said, “Dakim has developed an innovative, affordable and practical solution to assist the rapidly aging population maintain their brain health and fight Alzheimer’s disease.
