Venrock Leads Investment Round in Hyper9, Mike Maples Sr. Joins Its Board of Directors
February 26th, 2009 No comments
Developments Further Validate Hyper9s Approach in Virtualization Management
AUSTIN, Texas Hyper9, Inc. (www.hyper9.com), the leading provider of management information for virtual infrastructures announced today that it has raised $8 million in a series B funding round. Venrock, a highly respected venture capital firm, led the round. Joining Venrock were current investors Matrix Partners, Silverton Partners and Maples Investments.
“Hyper9 will use the funds to launch and market its product, Hyper9,” said Chris Ostertag, CEO and founder of Hyper9. “Raising a second round of venture capital in today’s turbulent economic environment is a true testament to what our team has created at Hyper9. At a time when other virtualization vendors are struggling to stay alive, we are redesigning what virtual administrators can expect from their management solution in the future.”
Hyper9’s new breed of virtualization management technology provides virtual infrastructure administrators with the visibility they need to effectively do their job as well as provide the control that is necessary to manage such a dynamic environment. The Hyper9 product will be generally available early March, 2009.
Ostertag added, “I expect this round of funding to be the last one we need. As we move from a very successful beta phase to general availability next month, we anticipate we will move rapidly toward profitability.”
The company also announced that Mike Maples Sr., a private investor and tech industry veteran, joined its Board of Directors. Formerly Executive Vice President of the Worldwide Products Group for Microsoft, Maples has a proven track record in advising software companies as they expand product lines and enhance business operations such as sales and marketing. Prior to Microsoft, Maples held senior positions at other market leading companies such as IBM, Lexmark, NetIQ, and Sonic restaurants.
“VI administrators are tasked with managing highly dynamic virtual environments, yet lack an efficient way to collect, navigate and analyze information regarding virtual machines,” said Maples Sr. “With its premier product, Hyper9 will make the lives of administrators easier, help them work smarter and ultimately change the way virtual environments are managed today.”
