  • SendMe Closes $12 Million in Growth Capital Financing Following Breakout Year of Growth

    March 5th, 2009 No comments

New Investor Triangle Peak Partners Leads Round with Full Participation from Returning Investors GrandBanks Capital, Spark Capital, True Ventures, and Amicus Capital

SAN FRANCISCO, March 5 SendMe, Inc. (www.SendMeMobile.com), a premier mobile media company, today announced that it has secured $12 million in Series D growth capital financing. Led by new investor Triangle Peak Partners, the financing includes full participation by existing investors True Ventures, Amicus Capital, Spark Capital, and GrandBanks Capital. This round comes on the heels of a breakout year for SendMe marked by exceptional year-over-year revenue growth, a fivefold increase in the size of its content catalog, and unprecedented user adoption, engagement and retention throughout 2008 across each of its three core properties, SendMeMobile.com, SoLow.com and mbuzzy.com.

“Our dynamic mobile media platform is allowing consumers to discover and share their favorite content and experience new kinds of mobile entertainment. At the same time, we’re enabling major media brands to integrate into these experiences and connect with their target audiences in new and innovative ways that also generate high-margin incremental revenue. Clearly our strategy is working. We’ve experienced tremendous growth and our multi-brand strategy is creating bottom-line financial value not just to us, but to our expanding network of partners,” said Russell Klein, CEO of SendMe, Inc. “This new round of funding, along with the addition of Triangle Peak, provides more capital than we need in order to continue our trajectory to category leadership.”

Over the last year, SendMe has added new premium and community-generated content, services, and applications across its connected portfolio and has entered into partnerships with some of the world’s leading entertainment companies such as Universal Music Group, Warner Music, EMI, Sony Pictures, Corbis, and more than 30 others. The company also struck over two dozen key distribution partnerships that dramatically expanded SendMe’s proprietary access to avid mobile consumers. In addition, mbuzzy.com, SendMe’s leading mobile community, continued to exceed growth expectations, surpassing the one million registered user mark and generating in excess of one hundred million monthly page views.

“Given the pace with which SendMe has grown top-line revenue, lifetime value and its margins, it’s clear that Russ and his team have established a next-generation media company with a resilient business model. They have a unique combination of great technology, a winning multi-brand, connected strategy, industry-leading data warehousing and analytics capabilities, and top-tier partnerships that set them apart from competitors in the mobile marketplace. They’ve demonstrated an ability to effectively leverage this combination across three destination sites in a way that engages and entertains consumers, attracts advertisers, and delivers real financial results for content partners,” said Dain DeGroff, a managing member of Triangle Peak Partners.

Revolution Partners acted as financial advisor to SendMe Mobile in this funding round.
