  • Intersouth Partners Invests $3 Million in 6fusion as Company Relocates to North Carolina

    August 23rd, 2010 No comments

Recently relocated to Durham, North Carolina, 6fusion is a software company that has been a big mover and shaker in the software industry, developing a platform to take control of third party software and allow it to work on different operating systems, meeting a largely unmet need to IT operators. The company has announced on August 23, 2010, that it has raised $3 million in funding with Intersouth Parthers leading the funding round. This round of funding also comes as the company has relocated to Durham, North Carolina to be in the Research Triangle and have access to new and innovative resources and develop a better product.

6fusion is a rather new startup that has been developed by a group of IT professionals who developed the company’s proprietary technology to meet the unmet needs of IT companies in allowing for third party software to be used on different operating systems. As the world is being increasingly connected by the internet, more people are sharing files online that range from video to music files and other multimedia files for both business and pleasure. With such a wide variety of file formats and corresponding programs to play these files, compatibility issues have been a main concern for most IT companies. What makes 6fusion so attractive to investors is that the projected ROI on 6fusion’s platform is phenomenal. What makes 6fusion’s product so needed is its versatility. 6fusion’s platform can be used by all kinds of IT service providers who have SaaS applications, VARs, MSPs, ISPs, as well as end customers.

Other investors who took part in this funding round include other undisclosed private investors. As part of the agreement, Katrin Burt and Mitch Mumma from Intersouth Partners will join the company’s board of directors.

According to 6fusion’s cofounder and CEO, John Cowan, the company is growing at such a fierce pace that the partnership of Intersouth Partners will provide the company with resources and expertise to allow 6fusion to grow further. Mr. Cowan further added that the help and the funding that Intersouth has injected in 6fusion has enabled the company to enjoy such enormous success and become a leader in this new emerging market.

According to Katrin Burt, IT providers are looking for a novel technology that can allow to make third party software and files compatible with all systems involved in a network, and 6fusion seems to meet a critical need in the IT industry. The thing that is most amazing is that 6fusion provides such a simple and efficient cloud computing technology that users can scale up to, hence the amazing ROI from this technology being commercialized is phenomenal. To put quite simply, 6fusion has created a novel technology that allows users to access all their data from any computer anywhere in the world.

Founded in 1985, Intersouth Partners is a venture capital firm that is dedicated to funding early stage startups in the life sciences and tech industries. Since its inception, Intersouth has invested in over 100 companies and currently the firm has over $780 million in assets under its management. Intersouth is based in Durham, North Carolina and invests only in early stage companies who are poised for high growth and have a sound exit strategy. Some other companies in Intersouth’s portfolio include Accipiter, Bright Hub, InvoiceLink Corporation, Mixx, UOL, and others.
