  • Enterproid raises $11 Million for Android Separation between Business and Personal

    October 10th, 2011 No comments

Enterproid, the mobile software start-up company, has recently announced the end of a first round of funding which has brought the company the amount of $11 million. This funding round has been led by Comcast Ventures, with the participation of Google Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures.

The money raised in this funding round is intended to be used in order to create Divide software for Android whose purpose is that of allowing Android users to divide their mobile phones between business and personal profiles.

The company has launched at the Demo Spring 2011 conference which took place in March. The fact is that the company has made a very good impression from the beginning, as their ideas are very adequate to the market’s needs. The idea which has just managed to raise funds is based on the fact that business men and women are not thrilled at the idea of having 2 phones, one for business and a personal one. And this is how they got around to designing the Divide software which makes it very easy for the user. By the means of this software, each user can simply change from one profile to another, the process being incredibly easy to perform. Moreover, as you switch to the personal profile, you can make sure that the business profile has an extra layer of security, not causing you problems in the situation we have all had to face, that of losing the phone.

Moreover, this is a very interesting business idea as it is suitable for the IT departments at companies as well. The IT specialist can easily wipe business profiles from the company phones without letting aside the personal data, which allows them to also see which phones are accessing the business database of the company.

Dave Zilberman, the Principal at Comcast Ventures, has stated the following: “Employees bringing their own devices to work is a growing phenomenon, and Enterproid has found a solution for the challenge it creates for businesses’ privacy and security. We think Enterproid provides meaningful customer value, has the potential to disrupt an industry and, most importantly, changes the way people live, work and interact.”

At the moment, the entire tech business market is enthusiastic about this project, many of the leaders on the market expressing their appreciation for Enterproid and for its importance on the consumer-facing tech scene in New York. Enterproid’s CEO, Andrew Toy, stated that the Divide platform capitalizes on the Bring Your Own Device to work movement, which has recently been featured in the New York Times. At the moment, the application is available only in private beta, but the company intends to use the money raised in this funding round in order to expand it into iOS and Windows Phone 7 platforms.
